My Amazing Cosplay

In my portrait, I'm wearing a blue haori (a haori is a traditional Japanese loose, knee-length outer garment, often resembling a coat) and baggy black pants. I chose this style because it was based on my favorite anime character from Demon Slayer. His name is Tanjiro Kamado. I chose to dress up as this character because he shows that even if things don’t turn out the way you want them to, there is always a brighter route. As he said, “No matter how many people you may lose, you have no choice but to go on living.” My favorite accessory is the haori because it shows cultural appreciation to my character.

The part that brought me the most joy was getting feedback from Gio Swaby on our Zoom call and going to the Museum of Fine Arts and seeing other people who did the same thing as me. The most important thing about my portrait is the time and dedication I put into making it and the help I received from my teachers and friends. Please notice my royal blue hijab decorated with silver gemstones. The thing that was challenging with this project was the coloring. My skin color was not easy to do because of the chalk we were using, and it kept smudging a lot. Plus, we had to blend it in, but I successfully got what I needed and completed my work.

I dedicate this to my mom, friends, and teachers. I dedicate it to my mom because she brought me the outfit, and without it I wouldn’t have made this project the way I wanted it to go. I dedicate it to my friends because they helped me with the struggles and comforted me when I was feeling down or helpless about what to do. Lastly, I dedicate it to my teacher who helped me most, Ms. Taylor, for getting me to the point I am today and for the materials I used to complete this.
